At the 1994 Miss Universe pageant, Sushmita Sen was asked: “What is the essence of being a woman? She answered “Just being a woman is God’s gift that all of us must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother and is a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring, and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman. During the pandemic, we have all have been experiencing challenges from social isolation, balancing work and personal life, and feeling uncertain about our health and safety. Digging deeper into the impact of this pandemic. Women have also been encountering different struggles and difficulties just like any other. Especially those who are striving for their families.
I consider single mothers as one of the empowered women during this pandemic. Single moms that until now are still carrying their responsibilities and trying their best to raise their children well. During the pandemic, many single-income homes are facing unemployment without the safety net of older family members, who can't risk helping with child care. Despite the hard and tough path they are taking they are still fighting and haven't given up that's why they inspire me a lot.
Women play a big role in the development and in changing the world. But despite all their contributions they still experience discrimination and unfair treatment from those who stereotype that dare to tell what a woman can and cannot do.
We must do our best to make our society accept that women can also do what a man can do. We should continue promoting equality and speak for their rights. A woman can be anything she desires to be. She can be a wife, a mother, a manager, an engineer, a teacher, a police officer, a soldier, and many more, and with that no one has the right, to dictate someone's limitation.
Let's be one another's inspiration regardless of gender. Women empowerment comes in any form and you can join in taking action. We should acknowledge and put a spotlight on all the responsibilities women carry. We should utilize different platforms and shape the views of people. Treat it as a simple responsibility; empower, uplift, and educate people.
