Everyone is devastated in this whole situation. Not just our parents but also students knowing that self-studying plus the limited time wouldn’t be easy. One says that the quality of education is achieved by hard work and determination, I also agree with this statement. Every one of us has something to say about this new learning system. Society also says that our emotions are valid, but why do we hear voices saying that we should stop complaining because we should be used to it by now. Why does using our phone for a minute as a reward after hours of studying make you call us lazy?

This pandemic really stirred up my emotions and changed my perspectives. I know the efforts and hard work I put through my modules, and I can say that every student who’s complaining about their studies has their reasons, because we wake up every day with different situations to handle. Every day I try my best to understand and learn from my modules. Like everyone I also stay up all night to finish the tasks given to me, but it still doesn’t sit right with me to label what I’m doing as hard work. Aren’t I flattering myself too much? Knowing that someone determined and willing to do anything just to access education has to prioritize food first than his or her studies.

Children are born unique and innocent, they gain knowledge through experiencing new situations every day as well as going to school. They need guidance even with simple things, like doing something new for the first time. They need assistance to accomplish things.

Today’s National Children Month Celebration focuses on Children’s Rights during pandemic. Up until today, we can still hear the cries of people because of the word positive, a worldwide health crisis where everyone is affected regardless of age, gender, and life status, but it is obvious that the ones greatly affected are individuals from poorer households. The COVID-19 has resulted in schools shut all across the world, it just added fuel to the fire of past educational problems. More than 1 billion children are at risk of falling behind due to the spread of COVID-19. It is said that two out of five children couldn’t go to school due to the lack of needs but isn’t it stated by the Law that every child has the right that every child should have access to education? So is education during the pandemic only for those who can afford it. Well if your answer is yes Be acknowledged of blended and modular learning. What makes us think that this doesn’t help is because of the deadlines and all the tasks to be answered. Some might have forgotten the sole reason of this distance learning. An alternative, to at least learn something while schools are closed or the messed up decision to make it as the replacement for public schools.

Many of the world’s children,  those who don’t have any parents present at home struggles not just because of the lack of financial stability but also the lack of guidance. With my observation at home, I see a lot of children just happily playing every hour of the day. Well, teachers should expect parents to do the task of their child because everyone would agree with me that lower grade or elementary students can’t self-study. How can first graders teach themselves how to write and read when their parents must leave their sides. Additional to this are those children who developed depression, feeling anxious, lonely, and scared. They couldn’t go to school as a result of them not being able to enjoy the life they had before. They couldn’t attend school and play with their friends.

New measures to keep children safe and protected in this time of pandemic is showing support and love. Before scolding them for locking their selves inside their room, check on them first if they can handle it. Instead of telling them to rush and finish their modules why not give them encouraging words. Interact and make them feel needed. Don’t just ignore their achievements that they worked hard on. Adding weights on their backs doesn’t help one bit so why not help just a little. Give them encouragement and appreciation, in this time of pandemic children needs a shoulder to lean and cry never forget that your words matter the most to her, either make her happy or make her breathing heavier.

The best thing to do for the youth is to get vaccinated, follow safety protocols, become a role model, and give warmth.
